What I Wore || The troublemakers.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.  – Apple Inc.

We don’t always get 100% support as style bloggers who like to push the envelope and when we talked about this memorable Apple ad campaign in class last week, it stayed in my head when I decided to put on my shiny gold 80s maxi skirt. We won’t always have everyone’s support with our unusual choices but what’s the point of getting dressed if you aren’t going to make it your own. I am an artist, my body is a canvas and I will decorate it as I choose.

Slouchy top – old
Gold skirt – thrifted (going in shop soon)
Necklace – thrifted
Shoes – Toms

  1. Dear Emily,

I’m sorry that your Canadian-ness stopped me from commenting the other night. I had it all typed out and everything…but then your boys tied it up and I became overcome with anger and so I X-ed out. What a crazy bitch. BUT – I love your long gold skirt and your attitude in general in this post. I love your artwork – so go on and create! My way of looking at it is quite similar, I love everyone, but I do as I please.

    Have a great weekend!

    xo, Ash

  2. WORD!!! i echo everything about this post! i think fashion IS art and art is a form of self expression. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. not everyone will agree with our fashion choices and that’s okay. it has taken me a long time to come to terms with that concept. i live in a semi-small town and fashion isn’t exactly widespread here and sometimes i get those glares (you know those “looks!”) but as long as we are being true to ourselves it’s all good! :) i like to think that the way you dress is the way you present yourself to the world. it needs to be a reflection of who YOU are…
okay, i’m jumping off my soap box now :)
in conclusion: you look kick ass in your gold skirt!!!!!!!!!
